The Valentine's Day Gift

The holiday of all holidays for me is finally here. I can’t exactly explain why I love Valentine’s Day so much but I suspect it has something to do with the perfect post holi-daze timing and pink color scheme in the dead of winter. Perhaps it’s the promise of a second chance at romance or fun after we’ve all been overstretched, overspent and dare I say a bit disappointed? Plus the pastels sit well with pink and get me excited for Spring to finally sprung brightening all our lives, a preview into the peak of summer. Chicago girl at heart here, despite my last ten years in sunshine!

And even if cupid’s arrow is typically reserved for couples I still firmly believe Valentine’s Day is truly for the gals, obviously. Why wouldn’t we have a holiday to truly celebrate one another and I am the biggest proponent in changing this holiday from lovers to friends. Shall I send out a petition to get this change passed?
