and Prosecco in my colorful new coupes, on a boat, feeling like an Italian movie star… A highlight of our trip to say the least. An evening boat ride is a must on Lake Como. I can’t tell you how much fun we all had with our local snacks and sips, enjoying a very comfortable ride along the lake seeing villas, colorful towns and glittering waves!

Lake Como is a huge wishbone shaped landmark in northern Italy, just below the Swiss border and boasting the most incredible historic villas and charming towns, I could have spent a month here and not seen enough. I will most certainly be returning one day, hopefully sooner than later, and in what seemed too small a time I am beyond grateful I prioritized this outing as it was most certainly a highlight!

The only way to travel

We booked a private sunset tour and a wonderful experience with this company which offers pickups from every port on Como. We had a car rental during our stay but of course boats are best on the lake given how many wonderful places you’ll want to explore during your time here.

Next time I will be sure to book another boat day near Nesso to swim or try to coordinate for a dinner in another town, the possibilities are endless. Ferries also offer wonderful transportation but stop running later in the evening so I perhaps a ferry to another town and dinner, then a private boat transfer from dinner back home would make the most sense! Regardless, you can’t go wrong anytime of day on the water.
