Big Bear City Guide
One of the most ideal perks of living in Los Angeles is it’s close proximity to other beautiful places, such as Montecito, Palm Springs, Oak Glen, Carmel by the Sea, Napa and San Diego; the list goes on and on. But one you might not be as a familiar with is snow capped this time of year with three resorts to ski down and a charming little village in the city center and only 90 minutes away. Big Bear is a small year round-resort town in the mountains with a beautiful lake and

Film Roll: La La Land
City of stars, are you shinning just for me…or a dream that I cannot make true – the lovely words from the main ballad, City of Stars . Well, let me tell you, my cinema dreams did just come true. Aside from the absolutely lovely film score by Justin Hurwitz , the cinematography is truly spectacular. { image source } This mesmerizing tale of two lovers in Los Angeles completely held me in a trance, reviving my genuine love for this city I now call home and understanding about

Capture
The start of the holidays has always meant winter in Chicago, this looks like a dream right now, it will be nice to back back in the midwest for the holidays… The artist of these photos, Gregg Otteson, a fellow midwesterner himself, captures color richly, depicting a highly saturated vision of nature… [evergreen by gregg otteson via ugallery] [autumn letter by gregg otteson via ugallery] [pair by gregg otteson via ugallery] Midwestern glory, -M. View From The Top
One of the many things I love about LA is the ample supply of hiking trails, some along the ocean and others in the hills that surround Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Brentwood and Santa Monica… So far my favorite is RUNYAN CANYON, a hike overlooking the sunset strip and hollywood hills, making for a good workout and scenic views, and all within walking distance of a glamourous city, that is my kind of “nature experience”…. Remake
I have yet to come across many women today who haven’t felt influenced in some way by the persona of Marilyn Monroe. Her iconic look has impacted the way we view beauty, glamour, and many outlets of femininity and I believe those impacts will be timeless… A new film, My week with Marilyn, recounts the experience of a young man’s encounter with the famous starlet, in the making of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’. The trailer hints at the possible disconnect the icon had with

Like Candy
You can take the girl out of the midwest, but you can’t take the midwest out of me! Even though I am living in LA, a city that rarely experiences rainy days, I still feel the need to be “prepared” for rain to come…in Chicago rain was quite common in Fall and Spring, I must say, I do not miss rain, but I do miss my wellies …. Rest Your Head
One of the easiest ways to spruce up a bedroom or living room is with throw pillows! They are less costly then other decor items and can add instant chic to a room! Here are some I love, West Elm Pier 1 Sequence, metallics, and beading give an understated dose of glamour to any space; works as an accessory in fashion, as well as decor! Urban Outfitters I really like this gold, velvety, pillow! A great color, fabric, and size; very versatile too ! Target ABC Carpet&Home This

Close Quarters
Last weekend I found out about this cool, intimate, club called THE ROOM in Santa Monica. Unlike other nightclubs, this one was very small, in fact rightly titled since it only consisted of one room….but nonetheless, was The Room.. The space was dimly lite with candles illuminating the small middle bar and surrounding table hutches… Red was ever present and seems to always put me in a feel good mood; coupled with old-school rap and 90s hip hop music, fun memories of Chicago s

The "M" List
Here’s what I am loving this week…. Taschen’s London I have Taschen’s Paris on my coffee table and love it! So much information about hotels, restaurants, and shops, makes me want to go back! Forever 21 As a loyal fan of statement necklaces, this one is tad small, but adds just the right pop of color to anything from a slouchy knit sweater to a deep V shift BCBGMAXAZIRA Love these! Study Sunday
Being a Grad student has its advantages, like learning about something you are actually interested in, and disadvantages, lot’s of studying! I like Sundays to be lazy, casual, AND productive… Therefore it all starts with Starbucks, it’s really my only motivation for studying….seriously Most often I like to hang out in bed on Sunday mornings. I cannot get enough of the light that pours in from the window, especially when I am able to lay around and not get up for school/work!

Bright And Bold
Althoughit is still Fall, I cannot help but think about Spring! And Alice and Olivia did it all right! Bold colors and sweet shifts mirrored a lollipop looking line; pretty, sharp and bright, everything that defines the Spring season…. I love everything about this look; to start, the jacket is classic, fun, and patterned and perfectly compliments the wavy beaded mini dress. I love how jackets add so much sophistication to any look, especially one with a shorter hemline. The s

Viva Las Vegas
Living in L.A. has its perks, Vegas is practically around the corner…. Last weekend a dear friend, Mary, was in town and suggested going for a night and so we followed through… The ride in was bland, but lightened up once we hit the isolated dessert town! First off, we headed to Caesar’s Palace. It was elaborate and overly decadent, but enjoyable since that is what Vegas is all about! While Emma and Mary tested their luck on the slot machines, I wondered off to the pool and

Ombre Stays
A really big hair trend this year was ombre coloring and like most trends, I wanted full part in it. I still have some very subtle ombre highlights now and really love them! This is one trend I am not yet willing to give up!! Image via marie clair magazine Image via tinsletown-style.blogspot.com Both these looks are amazing, done right for both lengths. Velvet Luxury
Velvet, is my favorite fabric. Let me explain why… As a child I used to play dress up in all my mother’s clothes. The most standout piece was her matching blue velvet skirt and corset, one she had custom made for her 50th millennium New Years Eve birthday party and I will always remember her in it… Image via pinterest.com Similar to this one pictured above, the skirt was my favorite, because it hit me knee-length, and billowed out as I walked around, singing to “Blue Velvet”
